Global Support and Services Technician

Job Description:

  • Serve as Air Products' primary technical representative at customer sites
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning, startup, maintenance, and service activities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment
  • Provide technical guidance, operational support, and customer training
  • Ensure compliance with company, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
  • Develop, review, and update commissioning and service procedures
  • Complete service reports, expense reports, time reporting, technical documentation, and customer follow-up
  • Provide technical input to quotations, spare-parts recommendations, service proposals, and follow-up activities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical issues and improve service delivery
  • Identify continuous-improvement opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Support GSS sales and spare-parts activities by preparing quotations, following up with customers, and coordinating orders
  • Support special projects and assignments directed by the Customer Support Manager
  • Own assigned service activities from preparation through execution, reporting, follow-up, and technical closeout
  • Maintain current knowledge of Air Products' equipment, technologies, and best practices
  • Travel domestically and internationally approximately 30% of the time

Requirements:

  • Technical diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in field service, commissioning, industrial maintenance, or technical support
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals
  • Ability to plan and execute field assignments independently, manage priorities, follow established procedures, and escalate technical or safety concerns when required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Proficiency with service management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 30% of the time, including overnight stays, extended customer-site assignments, and travel outside normal business hours
  • Ability and willingness to work onboard vessels and at land-based industrial facilities, including machinery spaces and other operational environments, while complying with applicable safety requirements
  • Flexibility to support customers outside normal business hours, including occasional evenings or weekends
  • Ability to participate in an on-call support rotation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and required travel documentation
  • Preferred: experience with industrial gas generation, marine industry, membrane separation systems, compressors, instrumentation, PLC-based controls, process equipment, or similar technologies
  • Preferred: experience conducting customer training and technical presentations
  • Preferred: knowledge of commissioning and startup procedures for industrial and marine systems
  • Convenient access to a major airport and ability to meet travel requirements for candidates based outside the preferred St. Louis location
