Drives sales results for BMO InvestorLine within an assigned division by leading and managing a team of Regional Sales Managers. Has direct accountability for achieving the division’s sales, asset growth, referral, and client acquisition objectives and, through the performance of the division, contributes to BMO InvestorLine’s overall national results.

Leads with a business-owner mindset, taking accountability for divisional performance, people, partnerships, opportunities, risks, and execution. Maximizes the productivity and effectiveness of each Regional Sales Manager through clear expectations, disciplined performance management, coaching, and development.

Increases sales through internal BMO channels by strengthening employee product knowledge, expertise, and client needs conversations to provide solutions in the best interests of clients. Works with pace, takes timely action, and continuously identifies opportunities to improve sales effectiveness, business performance, partner engagement, and the client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads, coaches, and develops Regional Sales Managers to achieve individual and divisional sales objectives.
  • Has direct accountability for the division’s sales results and contributes to overall BMO InvestorLine national objectives through strong divisional performance.
  • Establishes clear performance expectations, success measures, and accountability standards for each Regional Sales Manager.
  • Drives full productivity across the Regional Sales Manager team through regular business reviews, performance management, targeted coaching, development planning, and timely action.
  • Develops and executes divisional business plans by identifying needs, assessing opportunities, and establishing clear priorities to achieve sales targets.
  • Owns divisional sales forecasting, pipeline management, performance monitoring, and business reporting.
  • Identifies performance gaps, business risks, and growth opportunities and implements action plans to improve results.
  • Leads with a business-owner mindset by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the division’s performance, people, partnerships, opportunities, and priorities.
  • Makes informed and timely decisions, demonstrates sound stewardship of resources, and focuses team capacity on activities with the greatest business impact.
  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with leaders across BMO distribution channels to identify opportunities, strengthen collaboration, and drive business growth.
  • Influences and negotiates with internal stakeholders to advance divisional priorities, remove barriers, and improve sales outcomes.
  • Provides strategic input and recommendations to senior leaders regarding divisional performance, market opportunities, business risks, and growth priorities.
  • Leads divisional sales meetings, planning sessions, business reviews, and coaching activities to improve sales force effectiveness.
  • Supports sales enablement initiatives, training programs, presentations, and conferences that strengthen product knowledge, sales capability, and client conversations.
  • Leads the implementation of broader BMO InvestorLine sales, marketing, and business initiatives within the assigned division.
  • Supports and enhances delivery of the desired client experience through BMO sales channels.
  • Assists in managing customer escalations and issue resolution, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-through.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations, policies, sales practices, and BMO InvestorLine solutions.
  • Analyzes sales performance, pipeline activity, market conditions, and client behaviour to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Acts with urgency and moves with pace to address business needs, remove barriers, respond to changing conditions, and advance priorities.
  • Promotes continuous improvement by challenging existing practices and identifying practical ways to improve productivity, execution, partner engagement, client outcomes, and business performance.
  • Leads divisional change initiatives, including planning, stakeholder engagement, communication, execution, evaluation, and sustainment.
  • Builds a high-performing and inclusive sales culture focused on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and client outcomes.
  • Oversees performance management, talent development, succession planning, recruitment, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
  • Applies expertise, sound judgment, and creative thinking to address complex or ambiguous business situations.
  • Contributes divisional insights and effective practices to support the broader BMO InvestorLine sales organization.
  • Performs additional divisional or business accountabilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CIRO courses and licensing: CSC, CPH, WME, and BMC.
  • Demonstrated sales leadership and people management experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering sales results through coaching, performance management, and disciplined execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve individual and team productivity through clear expectations, targeted coaching, development, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated business-owner mindset, including accountability for performance, informed decision-making, resource stewardship, initiative, and follow-through.
  • Experience developing and executing sales plans, forecasts, business reviews, and growth strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed sales teams.
  • Requires regular travel throughout the assigned division to support sales leadership, partner engagement, coaching, business development, and performance management activities.
  • Expert knowledge of financial markets, investment products, and wealth solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of online investing brokerage platforms, pricing, and operational processes.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen.
  • Strong relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and partnership-building capabilities.
  • Training, coaching, and facilitation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to move with pace, manage competing priorities, and lead through change.

Salary:

$85,500.00 - $185,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
