About AI Code Evaluation
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. In code evaluation projects, experienced developers review model-generated programs and explanations, check whether they work correctly, and provide precise feedback that helps AI produce more reliable software guidance.
This role focuses on PHP and Laravel, giving you the opportunity to apply practical development knowledge to cutting-edge AI systems while working remotely and flexibly.
- Evaluate AI-generated programming responses
- Check code for correctness, efficiency, security, and best-practice alignment
- Explain technical issues clearly and provide actionable corrections
The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking an experienced PHP Laravel developer for an AI code review and evaluation project. You will analyze prompts, code snippets, and explanations related to Laravel and assess whether they meet sound development standards.
The role requires strong hands-on experience with Laravel’s MVC architecture, Eloquent ORM, Blade templating, API development, authentication systems, database optimization, security implementations, and performance tuning. Strong English writing skills are essential because your feedback must be structured, detailed, and easy to understand.
- Core subject: PHP Laravel AI-generated code
- Language: English
- Experience requested: 5 or more years of hands-on Laravel development
- Engagement: Part-time contractor
- Schedule: Less than 20 hours per week
What You’ll Do
You will label, categorize, and assess AI-generated Laravel code and explanations. Your reviews should identify errors, inefficiencies, security concerns, and opportunities to improve accuracy and usability for developers.
You may evaluate full-stack Laravel implementations, authentication and database integrations, APIs, Eloquent queries, raw SQL, middleware, service providers, event handling, queues, and other practical Laravel patterns. You will also explain your reasoning and suggest corrected or improved approaches.
- Review AI-generated PHP and Laravel prompts, responses, and code snippets
- Evaluate correctness, efficiency, security, performance, and adherence to Laravel best practices
- Identify database, API, authentication, and implementation issues
- Recommend clear corrections and explain the reasoning behind them
- Assess inaccurate claims, such as incorrect statements about Eloquent model relationships
- Provide concise, structured feedback suitable for improving AI-generated answers
Technical Evaluation Areas
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate practical Laravel expertise rather than only theoretical knowledge. The evaluation may explore real-world projects, debugging decisions, performance improvements, security implementations, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
You may be asked to diagnose a Laravel code issue, discuss safer user-data updates, explain protections against SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF, or describe how dependency injection, middleware, service providers, event handling, and queues work in real applications.
- Describe real-world Laravel projects involving authentication and database integration
- Explain how you have optimized Eloquent queries, raw SQL, or application performance
- Discuss Laravel API development and consumption
- Identify and fix errors in PHP Laravel code
- Explain security best practices, including SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF prevention
- Assess AI-generated answers and provide technically accurate improvements
- Explain Laravel concepts clearly to beginners and non-specialist readers
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is intended for developers with substantial hands-on PHP Laravel experience who can combine technical judgment with careful written analysis. You should be comfortable challenging vague or incorrect answers, explaining implementation tradeoffs, and giving detailed feedback in English.
The structured interview and evaluation process will explore your Laravel background, debugging and optimization skills, AI evaluation experience, communication clarity, availability, and readiness for precise labeling work.
- PHP Laravel developers with 5 or more years of practical experience
- Professionals familiar with MVC, Eloquent, Blade, APIs, and authentication
- Developers who understand database optimization, security, and performance tuning
- Clear English communicators who can explain complex concepts simply
- Detail-oriented reviewers able to assess AI-generated code consistently
- Candidates ready to complete structured labeling tasks for less than 20 hours weekly
