POSITION DETAILS CLASSIFICATION This position is classified at the REX-08 group and level which is roughly equivalent to the EX-05 group and level. LOCATION This position is located in Toronto. Working from the Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, or Vancouver office may be approved, depending on worksite availability. Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position requires full-time physical presence in the office. As such, this position is not suitable for telework. PROCESS INTENT The immediate need is to staff one position with a language requirement of (bilingual imperative CBC/CBC on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic requirements and/or profiles, security requirements, tenures, and/or locations within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), which may vary according to the position being staffed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Managing Director (MD) Private Pension Plans is responsible for the effective management of people, resources, supervisory frameworks, processes and systems supporting the oversight of federally regulated private pension plans. The MD’s direct reports will align with the pension plan portfolios and may vary depending on how operational structure, which may evolve over time. The MD is responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships and ensuring effective collaboratively between their teams and key internal and external stakeholders. The MD, Private Pension Plans, also provides advice to OSFI’s executive leadership on issues, emerging risks, and areas of concerns related to their assigned pension plans. The MD represents OSFI in discussions with industry stakeholders, pension associations, other pension regulators, government departments and agencies, and contributes to domestic and international pension supervisory initiatives. In addition, the MD contributes to the strategic direction of the sector and fosters a collaborative, high-performing work environment both within the Private Pensions Plans area and across OSFI. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE Leadership experience at the senior management (2*) level in managing a team Significant (3*) experience in the following: pension plans, retirement income systems, pension regulation, pension administration, pension governance, pension risk management leading complex, high-profile, or multi-disciplinary initiatives involving multiple stakeholders building collaborative relationships and influencing decision-making at senior levels within and across organizations NOTE: (2*) Leadership experience at the senior management level is defined director level or equivalent positions with direct accountability for the management of a team and the delivery of operational or strategic decisions. (3*) Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of 5 years.
