As the Marketplace Financial Literary Podcast Intern, you'll collaborate on our award-winning portfolio of financial literacy podcasts, including a weekly version of our show about money and life, This Is Uncomfortable, and our seasonal podcast for kids and families, Million Bazillion.<br><br>This internship is a great opportunity if you want to pursue a career in journalism and podcasting. You'll develop your skills as an emerging journalist to create financial literacy programming with an emphasis on explainers and human-centered news-you-can-use - working with an experienced team who will guide them thoughtfully. This position will collaborate across platforms and departments and be responsible for work on podcasts, the website, social, and broadcast.<br><br><strong>Key Learning Goals<br><br></strong>Our Podcast teams are small and collaborative. You will have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills -- from technical skills, like recording and editing audio, to soft skills like communication, critical thinking, and teamwork. Through this immersive learning experience, you will learn:<br><br><ul><li>Learn to produce podcast episodes from start to finish, with minimal supervision</li><li>Develop the ability to adapt and extend journalistic content across multiple platforms—including video, social media, and digital</li><li>Learn to capture and maintain the unique voice and tone of a specific brand or show, while building proficiency across two distinct styles of podcast production<br><br></li></ul><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong>In this fast-paced position, you will:<br><br><ul><li>This is Uncomfortable podcast- Collaborate with show producers to brainstorm, book, prep, edit tape, prepare scripts, implement feedback, fact checking, etc.</li><li>Million Bazillion - Collaborate with show producers to shape scripted episodes</li><li>Audio producing and editing - record interviews, cut tape, and sound design</li><li>Research and fact checking - prepping hosts and making sure scripts are accurate</li><li>Collaborating with additional digital teams to create web and social extensions, working alongside producers to do so<br><br></li></ul><strong>Benefits<br><br></strong><ul><li>Eligible to accrue sick time off</li><li>Eligible for health insurance as required under the ACA</li><li>Eligible to participate in the APMG retirement plan<br><br></li></ul><strong>Programming<br><br></strong><ul><li>Participate in a robust onboarding experience</li><li>Professional development: on-the-job training, workforce readiness training, formal performance review feedback sessions, etc.</li><li>Participate in brown bag sessions to gain broader perspective of the organization<br><br></li></ul><strong>Required Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>Currently enrolled in a college or university, or graduated within the past 18 months</li><li>Available full-time (40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) throughout the internship</li><li>Some professional newsroom experience (e.g. college: newspaper, radio station, magazine, etc.)</li><li>Demonstrate interest/experience in financial literacy, the role money plays in our lives, or the economy</li><li>Some experience in some sort of audio platform<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>Interest/experience working on a weekly podcast</li><li>Interest and maybe some experience in video (short form)</li><li>Interest in comedy, pop culture, kids edu-tainment<br><br></li></ul><strong>Next Step In The Application<br><br></strong>In addition to your skills and knowledge, we want to get to know you in the application process.
