Writer Needed for 30-Day Student Devotional on Anxiety & Stress
We’re looking for an experienced youth ministry writer to write a 30-day printed devotional for middle and high school students.

- October 18: Remaining 25 devotions + additional content (introduction and About the Author) due
ANXIOUS: 30 Days With God When You’re Worried, Stressed & Overwhelmed
We’re specifically looking for someone with experience in youth ministry who writes from a progressive, inclusive Christian perspective. Familiarity with mainline Protestant theology is a plus.
The Project
Each day will be approximately 250 words and follow a simple format:
READ
A short Bible passage and 175-200 word devotional connecting one clear idea to the real-life experiences of teenagers.
REFLECT
1-2 reflection questions or a simple practical exercise students can try when they’re worried, stressed, or overwhelmed.
PRAY
A short prayer prompt followed by a one-sentence Big Idea students can remember.
---
Approach to Anxiety
The 30-day progression draws loosely from principles found in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the Unified Protocol (UP), alongside Scripture.
No therapy, counseling, ACT, or UP background is required. We’ll provide the framework and direction. The writer’s job is to translate the ideas into relatable, age-appropriate devotional content rooted in Christian faith.
Who We’re Looking For
Ideally, you:
- Have experience working with or writing for middle and/or high school students
- Have youth ministry experience
- Are comfortable writing from a liberal/progressive, inclusive Christian theological perspective
- Can make Scripture engaging and relevant without sounding preachy or overly academic
- Write in a warm, conversational voice that sounds natural to teenagers.
Please include relevant writing samples and a little about your youth ministry and theological background when applying.
