Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About The Role We’re looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Surety, to join our growing team!
What You’ll Do Here
- Distribute department correspondence.
- Order reports and references as directed by the underwriters.
- Data entry into underwriting and billing systems.
- Responsible for all word processing functions associated with contract bonds including preparing bonds, renewals, riders, legal documents and correspondence.
- Build and maintain good relationships with insurance brokers.
- Communicate with end users of surety bonds regarding the status of contracts and projects.
- Review incoming bonds issued by brokers for compliance, accuracy and completeness.
- Review and respond to surety clerical audits as required and make necessary corrections or recommendations.
- Calculate premiums on new additional premiums, return premiums and new business.
- High School Diploma, or higher, with up to two (2) years of experience
- Quick and accurate data entry skills
- Good oral and written communication skills and team spirit
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Can make decisions and work independently
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision
- Computer literacy with Microsoft software knowledge
- Can multitask and meet tight deadlines
- [Bilingual (French and English)] Need to interact on a regular basis with an English/French-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
