Strategic Venture Partner & Lead Investor (Seed)

Whistler, British Columbia Workplace Type: Hybrid / Remote

Company Description APE-X.ai is a technology licensing and intellectual property incubator focused on transforming physical hardware into secure, authenticated data nodes. The company enables Fortune 500 manufacturers, mobility fleets, and automotive OEMs to bridge the gap between physical products and digital services through patented kinetic energy harvesting and cryptographic proof-of-humanity protocols. Backed by an issued USPTO patent and a broad portfolio of provisional applications, APE-X.ai’s Jamatcha Protocol anchors its proof-of-humanity framework for secure telematics and smart infrastructure.

Its licensable hardware and telematics innovations span mobility, industrial safety, wearables, packaging, and emergency telemetry, targeting bot fraud elimination, safer operations, and recurring digital value at the physical edge.

Role Description The Strategic Venture Partner & Lead Investor (Seed) is a full-time, remote role. This role leads seed-stage capital deployment into APE-X.ai, structures investment terms, and co-designs commercialization pathways for the core IP portfolio. Day-to-day responsibilities include sourcing and managing strategic co-investors, conducting financial modeling and scenario analysis for hardware and licensing ventures, and guiding portfolio prioritization across mobility, industrial safety, wearables, and telematics assets.

The role partners closely with the founding team on go-to-market strategy, enterprise partnership development, and IP monetization, while overseeing investor relations, board-level reporting, and milestones for follow-on funding. The individual will also help shape long-term capital strategy, including syndication opportunities and potential spin-outs or joint ventures.

Qualifications

  • Strong investment and angel investing experience, ideally with exposure to deeptech, hardware, or IP-driven ventures.
  • Proficiency in finance and portfolio management, including modeling, valuation, and capital allocation across multiple initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in due diligence, including technical, market, regulatory, and IP risk assessment for early-stage opportunities.
  • Track record of leading or co-leading seed rounds and structuring venture deals in alignment with long-term growth and exit strategies.
  • Experience working with or within venture capital, family offices, corporate venture arms, or strategic investment groups.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with founders and technical teams, translating complex technology into clear business and investment narratives.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills across investors, partners, and internal teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is beneficial.

Prior experience in mobility, industrial IoT, telematics, or smart infrastructure markets is an asset.

About the Opportunity We are not hiring an employee; we are recruiting a co-pilot. APE-X.ai is an intellectual property incubator and technology licensing enterprise. We equip Fortune 500 manufacturers, mobility fleets, and automotive OEMs to bridge the gap between physical products and digital services through patented kinetic energy harvesting and cryptographic proof-of-humanity protocols.

Modern hardware networks are vulnerable to spoofed telemetry, bot-driven fraud, and rigid lithium-ion battery constraints. We eliminate these vulnerabilities at the physical edge. Operating on a capital-light, licensing-first business model, we partner with OEMs to embed our architecture directly into their manufacturing pipelines—capturing upfront architecture licenses and recurring SaaS telematics royalties without the burden of high-volume manufacturing.

The Arsenal (Our IP Moat) Our foundation is secured and ready for commercialization:

  • Core Utility Patent: Issued USPTO Patent #12,333,564.
  • Expansive Pipeline: 16 provisional applications covering 29 distinct inventions.
  • The Jamatcha Protocol: A cryptographic proof-of-humanity framework that verifies biological authenticity, replacing legacy CAPTCHA systems to eliminate bot fraud across V2X and smart-city grids.
  • Hardware Schematics: Architectural blueprints spanning autonomous micro-mobility (The Mule), fluidic kinetic/photo-thermal energy harvesters (Micro-Zep), and non-destructive industrial stopping mechanisms.

The Mission (The $3M Seed) We are seeking a Lead Investor or Strategic Venture Partner to anchor a CAD $3M Seed round. This capital will be deployed to:

  • Finalize functional, late-stage kinetic hardware prototypes with elite engineering design partners.
  • Deploy the Jamatcha biometric telematics platform for live enterprise demonstrations.
  • Fund global patent prosecution and portfolio maintenance.
  • Execute initial tier-one direct-licensing agreements with manufacturers and fleet operators.

Who You Are

  • An Angel, Private Equity, or Venture Capital partner with deep expertise in hardware technology transfer, IP commercialization, and telematics scaling.
  • You possess a rich network of Fortune 500 hardware manufacturers, automotive OEMs, and micro-mobility operators.
  • You understand the strategic advantage of a defensive IP moat and a software-margin licensing model.
  • You bring operational grit and execution bandwidth to parallel our existing strategic media and licensing operations based in Los Angeles.

How to Apply If you have the capital, the network, and the vision to turn physical endpoints into authenticated data nodes, we want to talk.

  • It costs nothing to look, but it might if you decide not to. Apply directly or reach out to invest@ape-x.ai to request the password for our secure executive data room.
