About The Role The Principal’s Representative – Site Manager acts as the Principal’s on-site representative, providing independent oversight, monitoring and reporting of all construction activities across BESS, solar and/or wind projects.
The role is focused on maintaining visibility of site progress, verifying that works are delivered safely and in accordance with contractual, technical and regulatory requirements, and supporting informed decision-making by the Principal.
This role does not direct or control the Contractor’s means, methods or sequencing of work. Responsibility for construction execution remains with the Principal Contractor.
The role will initially support a split scope large-scale BESS project (Teebar) located in Queensland, with the opportunity to transition to wind or solar projects thereafter.
This role is site-based and operates on a 2:1 roster, subject to final confirmation.
Key Responsibilities Site Oversight and Interface Management
- Act as the Principal’s on-site representative across all construction activities from mobilisation through to practical completion.
- Provide continuous site visibility to the Principal, including progress, risks, constraints and emerging issues across all work fronts.
- Monitor site activities across civil, mechanical, electrical and commissioning scopes and assess alignment with approved plans and schedules.
- Monitor progress against the baseline schedule and highlight deviations, risks and potential recovery measures.
- Interface with contractors, Network Service Provider, BESS supplier, landowners, council, community and First Nations stakeholders on behalf of the Principal.
- Manage and support coordination of interfaces between Balance of Plant Contractor, BESS Supplier and Network Service Provider.
- Review site activities against IFC drawings, method statements, ITPs, specifications and contractual requirements, and report any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed site records, including photographic/drone and written progress documentation.
- Provide regular reporting to the Principal’s project team and management on progress, risks and key issues.
- Participate in site meetings (including pre-start and SIMOPS) and ensure visibility of actions and outcomes to the Principal team.
- Promote a strong safety culture aligned with the Principal’s expectations and project objectives.
- Monitor and report on the Principal Contractor’s compliance with WHS legislation, HSE plans and contractual obligations.
- Observe implementation of SWMS, JSAs and Permit to Work systems, and highlight deficiencies or risks.
- Participate in and/or observe site safety inspections and audits, and report findings to the Principal.
- Monitor incident reporting and investigation processes, including HSE oversight of investigation monitoring and processes in consultation with WHS, and ensure timely escalation to the Principal.
- Log incidents into Principal’s Safety System: Safety Culture.
- Verify that environmental controls (e.g. erosion, sediment, waste, noise, dust, spill prevention) are implemented and maintained.
- Monitor compliance with approvals, permits and environmental management plans.
- Escalate reportable incidents and significant risks to the Principal promptly.
- Monitor compliance with project quality management systems and frameworks.
