Position Overview

Infinite Outsourcing Solutions (IOS) is seeking an experienced Site Director – E-Commerce Logistics for a major client operation in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Site Director will be the senior operational leader responsible for the overall performance, profitability, safety, client satisfaction, workforce leadership, and strategic direction of a large-scale, high-volume e-commerce distribution operation.

This role requires an accomplished logistics leader with strong experience in 3PL, e-commerce fulfillment, large-team management, financial performance, client relationship management, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building a high-performance operation while consistently achieving or exceeding Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), productivity targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and financial objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the site.
  • Direct day-to-day warehouse and fulfillment operations, including:
  • Receiving and inbound operations
  • Putaway and inventory control
  • Picking and order fulfillment
  • Packing and value-added services
  • Shipping and outbound operations
  • Returns and reverse logistics
  • Ensure client-specific SLAs, KPIs, productivity targets, and quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Lead workforce and capacity planning for changing volumes and peak e-commerce periods.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Drive improvements in productivity, throughput, accuracy, service quality, and cost.
  • Establish and maintain effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure consistent operational execution across all shifts.

Site Launch & Operational Readiness

  • Provide leadership during site launch, ramp-up, and stabilization.
  • Support development of staffing models, organizational structures, training plans, and operational processes.
  • Coordinate readiness across Operations, HR, Training, Health & Safety, Maintenance, IT, and other support functions.
  • Identify operational risks and establish effective contingency plans.
  • Ensure the operation is scalable to support future growth and peak volumes.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a senior site-level contact for the client.
  • Develop strong and collaborative client relationships.
  • Lead operational reviews, performance meetings, and business discussions.
  • Present KPIs, SLA results, improvement initiatives, risks, and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure client concerns are addressed quickly and effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service, productivity, quality, and cost.

Financial Management

  • Manage site operating budgets and overall financial performance.
  • Monitor labour costs, overtime, operational expenses, and productivity.
  • Analyze cost-per-order/unit and other key financial indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Maintain appropriate financial controls and accountability.

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Lead and develop managers, supervisors, team leads, and operational teams.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on safety, service, productivity, and quality.
  • Ensure staffing levels are aligned with operational requirements.
  • Partner with HR and workforce teams on recruitment, onboarding, retention, and employee development.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support succession planning.
  • Identify and develop high-potential employees.
  • Promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Champion a strong safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company policies.
  • Ensure employees and leadership consistently follow established safety procedures.
  • Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain high standards for inventory accuracy, order quality, and process compliance.
  • Ensure operations remain audit-ready.
  • Support site security and loss-prevention initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the operation.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, and other improvement methodologies where appropriate.
  • Analyze operational data to identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, quality, and cost.
  • Lead initiatives related to:
  • Warehouse layout optimization
  • Process standardization
  • Workflow improvements

  • Develop sustainable solutions for recurring operational issues.

WMS, Technology & Automation

  • Ensure effective use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and operational technologies.

  • Partner with technical teams to improve system and equipment performance.
  • Support implementation and optimization of automated and mechanized warehouse solutions.

Qualifications & ExperienceRequired

  • 5–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics, supply chain, or fulfillment operations.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing a distribution centre or large operational team.
  • Strong experience within a 3PL environment.
  • Experience managing high-volume e-commerce fulfillment operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, multi-shift warehouse teams.
  • Strong experience managing operational performance against SLAs and KPIs.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labour costs, forecasts, and productivity.
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory management, and operational reporting.
  • Proven experience developing managers, supervisors, and operational teams.
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

  • Postsecondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification.
  • APICS, SCMP, CSCMP, or similar professional designation.
  • Experience supporting a new distribution centre launch or major operational ramp-up.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing warehouse automation, mechanization, WMS, or other logistics technologies.
