Server (Part Time)

The Granite Club is looking for a part time Server who will be responsible to create a premier pub experience that is refined and approachable through excellent food and beverage knowledge and the ability to adhere to the standards of service. Servers are required to act as ambassadors and representatives of the Club as Member perceptions of the Club in general are influenced by the front-line staff they encounter. The position also entails the maintenance and enhancement of the Granite Gold level of service necessary to properly represent the Granite Club.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create a premier gastro pub experience that is refined and approachable through excellent food and beverage knowledge and the ability to adhere to the standards of service.
  • Ensure proper setup of wine buckets with crushed ice and water with a black line draped over.
  • Be present on the floor at all times, unless needed in the back of the house.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of all food and beverage items.
  • Proactively provide recommendations, descriptions, and alternatives for any allergen/dietary restrictions on all menu items.
  • Answer any questions about food, beverages, wine and other Club functions and services.
  • Ensure accuracy when entering information into the POS system.
  • Provide the necessary condiments prior to the arrival of meals.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation standards.
  • Conduct regular table checks (e.g. refill water and wine glasses as necessary) to monitor Member’s continual satisfaction. Ensure Members are satisfied with their food, beverages and service.
  • Make and serve espresso-based drinks.
  • Monitor cleanliness of the section and ensure it is presentable before, during and after service.
  • Adhere to strict levels of organization and tidiness for the service stations and surrounding service areas and ensure it is presentable before, during, and after service.
  • Maintain a positive attendance record by reporting to work for assigned shifts at the scheduled time.
  • Able to successfully solve problems through good decision making.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with guests, and co-workers.
  • Knowledgeable about the employee handbook, service manual and follow all the policies.
  • Report all equipment and maintenance issues to a Restaurant Manager..
  • Front line staff are empowered to solve problems immediately and escalate to managers if necessary.
  • Report all problems / issues to the restaurant Managers, even if resolved to ensure member follow up if necessary.
  • Meet all uniform, appearance, and grooming standards as specified by the Club.
  • Follow all fire and emergency procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 education and 2 years related work experience.
  • Good working knowledge of English (Written and Verbal)
  • Smart Serve Certification.
  • Food, wine, beer and cocktail knowledge is required.
  • Excellent Communication and Social Skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and remain calm under pressure.
  • Understanding all policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and specifications.
  • Full Time Staff - Required to have open availability including weekends, weekdays, holidays, AM and PM.
Compensation

  • The hourly rate for this position is $22.78.
