Senior Solutions Engineer

This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: Oceania, APAC, Australia

About Us:

Zepto is building the beating heart of Australia's real-time, account-to-account payments revolution.

We're a rapidly-scaling business reimagining how money moves for some of Australia's largest merchants, organisations and payment platforms – disrupting a market that's been overdue for change for decades. This ambition has seen us recognised as FinTech Organisation of the Year at the Finnies Awards. Twice.

For passionate, action-oriented people, this ambition means genuine opportunity: to build category-defining infrastructure, own hard problems, and grow a career at the pace of the business around you. This isn't incremental work – it's the kind of experience that changes the trajectory of a career.

We believe in the power of positive human experiences, and that a deep sense of belonging creates cohesion in our culture. Even as a remote-first team, you'll be a contributor and custodian of that culture, solving complex problems alongside talented people who are just as driven to help us deliver on our brand promise and build 'a better way to pay' at Zepto.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Solutions and Customer Success, as a Senior Solutions Engineer, you'll sit at the intersection of engineering, product and sales - the technical backbone of our sales cycle and the trusted advisor our merchants and partners turn to for an end-to-end payments experience.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role built around technical pre-sales, solution design and integration consultation. You'll need real expertise in payments technology - how currency and data move through APIs, webhooks, settlement rails and reconciliation flows - and the ability to translate that complexity into a solution that a merchant's CTO, CFO and engineering team can all get behind.

You'll lead technical discovery, design and present tailored solutions, run proofs of concept, and own the technical thread from first conversation through to a live, successful integration. Your work directly shapes whether prospects convert, and whether customers see the value of our technology once they're live.

Working in a scale-up means you get the opportunity to flex your skills in a variety of ways. We are agile and always willing to roll up our sleeves to get things done. You can, however, expect your day to day to be involved in the following:

  • Own technical pre-sales end to end; leading discovery, scope alignment, gap analysis and solution design from first conversation through to signed deal and handover to delivery.
  • Architect payments solutions across Zepto's API and product suite; payment initiation, PayTo/PayID, direct debit, disbursements, reconciliation, webhooks - solving each merchant's specific technical constraints.
  • Run technical workshops and demos for technical and non-technical stakeholders alike, adapting the story to whoever's in the room.
  • Own the technical content of RFPs, RFIs and tenders, partnering with Commercial on positioning and competitive differentiation.
  • Be the technical voice in the sales cycle, fielding deep questions on APIs, integration patterns, compliance and security in real time.
  • Prototype and validate; building sandbox integrations and testing API flows to prove feasibility before a merchant commits engineering resources.
  • Bridge sales and product, feeding real merchant requirements and competitive gaps back into the roadmap.
  • Support technical delivery handover, making sure what's sold is what's built and customers are set up for a smooth go-live.

About You:

You're a technical pre-sales pro who can hold your own in front of an engineering team in the morning and a CFO in the afternoon. Specifically, we'd welcome any candidate who has:

  • 3+ years' experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering or solution architecture, ideally supporting technical sales cycles.
  • Strong, demonstrable payments experience; payment rails, gateways, settlement and reconciliation - ideally with exposure to the Australian landscape (NPP, PayTo, PayID, BECS, card schemes) or equivalent overseas. Time at a payments company, fintech, bank or PSP is highly valued.
  • Genuine comfort in the technical weeds of APIs - reading docs, constructing and debugging REST calls, interpreting JSON, and reasoning through webhook and event-driven patterns without needing an engineer to translate.
  • A track record in technical pre-sales specifically - running discovery, scoping integrations, presenting to technical and executive audiences, and responding to tenders. You sell the "how" as convincingly as the "why".
  • A tertiary qualification in computer science or a related field, or the equivalent built through 3+ years hands-on with code, APIs or technical systems.
  • Strong project management instincts - comfortable juggling multiple live deals and stakeholders without dropping the ball.
  • A self-directed streak and comfort with ambiguity - you're energised by startup pace and go looking for the process improvement rather than waiting for someone else to find it.
