About The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Safety Design Software Architect to join our Software Safety team in the Autonomous Vehicles (AV) organization. As a member of the AV Software Safety team, the Safety Design Software Architect leads and supports safety initiatives in all phases of system development (concept, requirements, design, implementation, verification and validation) for software that is core to our AV systems. You will conduct safety analyses and create runtime safety requirements for components of the AV software stack and will provide guidance to the software development teams to develop and verify safe software solutions for our future vehicles.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Conduct software safety analyses and create runtime safety requirements by collaborating with GM systems and software engineers as well as hardware and software suppliers.

  • Ensure that software safety requirements are complete, consistent, and aligned to system-level safety requirements.

  • Support software teams in software design, implementation and testing to confirm that safety requirements are met.

  • Ensure adherence to GM's safety and software development processes.

  • Escalate any unresolved safety-related issues and confirm that the resolution process has been followed.

  • Lead or contribute to initiatives towards the continuous improvement of the safety and software development processes.

  • Interface with corporate and industry experts to stay current in safety processes, methods, and tools.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • A minimum of 5 years embedded systems development experience in safety-critical domains (automotive, aerospace, medical, nuclear)

  • Demonstrated performance in a position requiring excellent understanding of embedded software implementation details as well as the larger systems picture

  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 and other functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 62304, or DO-178C

  • Full software development lifecycle experience (software requirements, design, coding, verification)

  • Proficiency in C/C++ embedded programming.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, interfacing with GM engineers and suppliers globally

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience performing or evaluating safety analysis methods such as HAZOP, FMEA, FTA, and STPA

  • Knowledge of software architecture and design patterns

  • Experience reviewing and/or developing software requirements from system-level requirements

  • Multi-core programming and real-time operating system experience.

  • Familiarity with automotive systems and with active safety and automated driving systems in particular

  • Knowledge of in-vehicle communication networks (CAN, FlexRay, LIN, Ethernet)

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Software, Computer, Control, Mechatronics) , Computer Science or related field.

  • Advanced degrees preferred.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $115,000 to $164,600. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

A propos du role :
Nous recherchons un(e) Architecte principal(e) en conception logicielle de securite hautement motive(e) pour rejoindre notre equipe de securite logicielle au sein de l'organisation des vehicules autonomes (AV). En tant que membre de l'equipe de securite logicielle AV, l'Architecte principal(e) en conception logicielle de securite dirige et soutient les initiatives de securite a toutes les phases du developpement systeme (concept, exigences, conception, mise en uvre, verification et validation) pour les logiciels au cur de nos systemes AV. Vous realiserez des analyses de securite et redigerez des exigences de securite en exploitation (runtime) pour les composants de la pile logicielle AV, et vous fournirez des orientations aux equipes de developpement logiciel afin de developper et de verifier des solutions logicielles sures pour nos vehicules du futur.

Ce que vous ferez (responsabilites) :

  • Effectuer des analyses de securite logicielle et definir des exigences de securite en exploitation en collaboration avec les ingenieurs systemes et logiciels de GM, ainsi qu'avec les fournisseurs de materiel et de logiciels.
  • Veiller a ce que les exigences de securite logicielle soient completes, coherentes et alignees sur les exigences de securite au niveau systeme.
  • Soutenir les equipes logicielles dans la conception, la mise en uvre et les tests logiciels afin de confirmer que les exigences de securite sont respectees.
  • Assurer le respect des processus de securite et de developpement logiciel de GM.
  • Escalader tout probleme non resolu lie a la securite et s'assurer que le processus de resolution a ete suivi.
  • Diriger ou contribuer a des initiatives visant l'amelioration continue des processus de securite et de developpement logiciel.
  • Interagir avec des experts internes et de l'industrie afin de rester a jour sur les processus, methodes et outils de securite.

Vos competences et aptitudes (qualifications requises) :

  • Minimum de 5 ans d'experience en developpement de systemes embarques dans des domaines critiques pour la securite (automobile, aerospatial, medical, nucleaire).
  • Preuve de performance dans une fonction necessitant une excellente comprehension a la fois des details d'implementation logicielle embarquee et de la vision d'ensemble des systemes.
  • Familiarite avec la norme ISO 26262 et d'autres normes de securite fonctionnelle telles que IEC 61508, IEC 62304 ou DO-178C.

Remuneration :
