About the role

This role is for a Senior Lead, Product Operations for the Growth Team. Shopify’s Growth Team builds the product features and platforms that increase the number of entrepreneurs on Shopify. This R&D team has the mission to help Merchants succeed long term every step of the way. As a Senior Lead, Product Operations, you will be an individual contributor, responsible for building and running at-scale systems that ensure alignment, visibility, and speed in our product development processes for this area. You will partner with leaders across Product, UX, Engineering and Data to drive the planning process including roadmap planning, aiming on our products and executive reviews along the way. You will define, own, and continuously improve company-wide processes that scale to Shopify as a whole, such as how we build across all Shopify surfaces. You will be responsible for communicating with stakeholders at all levels about progress and outcomes for your areas. Lastly, you are expected to help improve the craft of Product Operations at Shopify by mentoring other product operators, sharing best practices, and contributing to aiming how Growth and the rest of Shopify operates. RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Remove roadblocks to product development: solve bottlenecks, streamline communication, accelerate decisions and help us focus and move faster to ship value to our users

Gather and analyze large amounts of information quickly and disseminate insights leading to data-informed platform and launch decisions

Structure and solve complex and ambiguous platform, business and operational challenges affecting multiple product areas and Shopify as a whole (e.g. roadmap dependencies between Growth and the rest of the company, large scale platform migrations)

Partner with teams (e.g. Product, UX, Engineering, Data) to cross-functionally align Growth’s planning and assembly and drive momentum to ship value

Build systems for frequent alignment, accountability to outcomes, and feedback within areas with dozens of concurrent projects

Raise the bar across Product Ops at Shopify: scale what works, question what doesn’t, and mentor craft members across the company to build a world-class team

Leverage AI to increase our scale, speed and ambition across our R&D teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience in successfully driving complex operational and strategic initiatives, including zero-to-one launches, large business-critical migrations, and highly interconnected, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment

Experience in designing and rolling out effective minimum viable process, thinking in systems while rolling up their sleeves to get things done

Excellent communication skills to effectively update executive stakeholders as well as influence and enable product teams

Ability to pull projects out of local maxima, and influence teams to consider a different approach

Proven ability to prioritize strategically and getting things done pragmatically in a fast-paced & growing environment

Be self driven, proactive and able to navigate through ambiguity and complexity PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior experience working with Growth teams or metrics-heavy areas

Understanding of Marketing or Data platforms and tools

Experience in Infrastructure, Engineering or related industries.

Advanced degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
