Who We’re Looking For GHD is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer – Transit Design Lead to support the continued growth of our Canadian Transportation practice. This role is suited to an experienced civil design leader with 15+ years of experience delivering large-scale transit and transportation infrastructure projects, including: <ul><li> Rail corridors </li><li> Roadways and highways </li><li> Multi-modal corridors (LRT / BRT) </li><li> Site development and linear infrastructure </li></ul>You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Ontario, Canada, North America, and GHD’s global network—bringing technical excellence, leadership, and coordination to complex projects. Your Role Working within a high-performing and collaborative environment, you will: <ul><li> Lead civil design for track grading, roadways, and multi-modal corridors, including median LRT/BRT alignments and supporting site / linear infrastructure </li><li> Manage and coordinate civil deliverables from concept through detailed design, using 3D design platforms such as Civil 3D </li><li> Lead and support small teams of engineers and designers, driving design quality, standards, and delivery on complex projects </li><li> Provide technical mentorship and supervision to junior engineers, EITs, and technicians </li><li> Review and oversee models, drawings, quantities, specifications, technical memoranda, and contract documentation with minimal supervision </li><li> Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Project Directors, and Business Group Leaders, supporting scope, schedule, and budget alignment </li><li> Collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality, integrated project outcomes </li><li> Lead coordination with subconsultants, municipalities, utilities, agencies, and clients </li><li> Support projects delivered under Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build procurement models </li><li> Apply and promote GHD BIM and Quality Management standards at the project level </li><li> Contribute to the advancement of standard civil details, tools, training, and lessons learned across the practice </li></ul>This role offers long-term growth opportunities, including advancement into design management, project management, or people leadership roles. What You Bring <ul><li> Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering </li><li> Ontario P.Eng. designation (required) </li><li> 15+ years of experience delivering transportation and transit infrastructure projects </li><li> Demonstrated success leading civil design on complex, multidisciplinary projects </li><li> Strong understanding of local agency codes, standards, and practices </li><li> Experience working in a 3D/BIM-enabled design environment </li><li> Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D (MicroStation experience considered an asset) </li><li> Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills </li><li> Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, tight schedules, and parallel projects </li><li> Strong attention to detail with effective problem-solving and organizational skills </li><li> Familiarity with BIM collaboration platforms such as ProjectWise, BIM 360, or Autodesk Construction Cloud (preferred, not required) </li></ul>Why GHD <ul><li> Meaningful work on transformational transit projects across Canada </li><li> A collaborative, values-driven culture that supports professional growth </li><li> Flexible work location options across the GTA or project offices </li><li> Clear pathways for career development and leadership progression </li></ul>GHD is committed to pay transparency and competitive total rewards.
