Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Educational Leadership:
    • Provide visionary leadership to ensure the realization of Marifah School's mission and goals.
    • Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of effective teaching strategies aligned with Islamic values.
  2. Islamic Values Integration:
    • Integrate Islamic teachings seamlessly into the school's ethos and academic curriculum.
    • Cultivate an environment that promotes Islamic values, ethics, and moral character development.
  3. Staff Management:
    • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate teaching and administrative staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that aligns with Marifah School's values.
  4. Curriculum Development:
    • Lead the development and refinement of a curriculum that aligns with Ontario educational standards and Islamic principles.
    • Ensure the curriculum reflects a commitment to academic excellence and the holistic development of students.
  5. Student Well-being and Safety:
    • Oversee initiatives that prioritize the well-being, safety, and inclusivity of students.
    • Implement and monitor anti-bullying programs, mental health awareness, and student support services.
  6. Community Engagement:
    • Cultivate positive relationships with parents, community leaders, and local organizations.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance community engagement, involvement, and support.
  7. Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the school budget effectively.
    • Seek and secure funding opportunities to support the school's mission and programs.
  8. Professional Development:
    • Encourage and facilitate ongoing professional development for staff.
    • Stay abreast of educational trends, policies, and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • OCT certification (preferred).
  • 5 years’ principal / teaching experience in elementary schools in Canada or at International Schools
  • Leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably at the elementary level.
  • Proven experience in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for young children.
  • Professional and respectful attitude with parents, colleagues and administration
  • Evidence of sensitivity and respect for others and a willingness to work within cultural boundaries.
  • Experience developing curriculum
  • Professional learning community (PLC) knowledge and background preferred.
  • Proven experience in programming for students of all abilities, interests, and learning styles.
  • Proficient in English language (oral and written). Fluency additionally in Arabic and/or French is preferred
  • Strong communication both oral and written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to be part of a collaborative educational team.
  • In-depth understanding and commitment to Islamic values.
  • Recent criminal background check, including a vulnerable sector search (VSS).
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
