QE Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QE Engineer based in Canada. This role is focused on building quality into the software development lifecycle through structured testing and quality engineering practices. You will work closely with development and product teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective test strategies. The position combines test planning, automation, continuous testing, and validation across large-scale distributed software environments. You will contribute throughout the full project lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, execution, and evaluation. The role offers the opportunity to work with modern engineering practices including Agile, DevOps, BDD, and automated testing frameworks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams while taking ownership of quality engineering activities with minimal supervision. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced QA professional who enjoys solving complex testing challenges and improving software reliability. Accountabilities Participate in requirements gathering and software design phases to develop a thorough understanding of business requirements and ensure testing strategies address business needs. Design comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and quality engineering approaches aligned with project requirements. Implement established quality engineering processes throughout the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, execution, and evaluation. Develop and execute automated and manual testing activities across large-scale, distributed software environments. Apply behavior-driven development and automation practices to improve test coverage, repeatability, and software quality. Collaborate with developers, product teams, and other stakeholders to identify potential quality risks and ensure requirements are effectively validated. Support continuous testing and DevOps practices by integrating quality activities into development and deployment workflows. Perform database and data validation testing where required, ensuring application behavior and underlying data meet expected requirements. Use relevant testing, development, and product management tools to document, track, and communicate testing activities and results. Contribute to model-based testing and other structured quality engineering methodologies. Work independently on assigned quality engineering activities while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, automation coverage, and overall software quality. Requirements 5+ years of professional experience in enterprise software testing, preferably within large-scale distributed software environments. Hands-on experience with technologies and frameworks such as Gherkin, REST Assured, Java, and Apache POI. At least 2 years of experience working with Agile methodologies, tools, and quality engineering practices. Experience with GitHub, DevOps, Jenkins, Playwright, BDD automation, database testing, continuous testing, and model-based testing. Familiarity with product and application lifecycle management tools such as RTC, RQM, Jira, Client ALM, or Rally. Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and quality engineering processes across the full development lifecycle. Ability to design effective test plans and scenarios based on business and technical requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify defects, quality risks, and potential gaps in requirements. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability for assigned deliverables. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional engineering team. Experience with ETL testing is an advantage. Working knowledge of SQL is preferred. Comfortable adapting to Agile, DevOps, and continuously evolving engineering environments.
