National Account Manager

Location: Canada

Reports To: Director, Sales & Marketing THE ROLE

We are seeking a results-driven National Account Manager to lead one of Wella Canada's most strategic retail partnerships. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth across our portfolio of leading beauty brands through best-in-class joint business planning, customer collaboration and flawless execution.

The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capabilities with exceptional relationship-building skills to unlock growth opportunities, deliver category leadership and exceed sales, market share and profitability objectives.

This position reports to the Director, Sales & Marketing and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Customer Service, Demand Planning, Trade/Customer Marketing, Brand Marketing and Finance.

Own the strategic development and execution of the SDM business, delivering sustainable growth through strong retailer influence, omnichannel activation, disciplined trade investment and cross-functional leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish and Lead the Annual Joint Business Plan
  • Own the development and execution of the annual Joint Business Plan, influencing both retailers and internal stakeholders to deliver sustainable growth, market share gains and profitability targets.
  • Lead strategy, tactics and execution across all JBP activities, including innovation launches, promotional planning, line reviews and business reviews.
  • Build strong retailer relationships and represent Wella as a collaborative, insight-led partner with a clear understanding of SDM & LCL's beauty strategy and commercial priorities.
Drive Fact-Based Business Growth
  • Analyze the business using all available tools, including NielsenIQ, LDIA and retailer reporting, to understand key category drivers, consumer trends and portfolio opportunities.
  • Identify fact-based sales opportunities to drive consumption growth, assortment productivity and category performance.
  • Manage weekly sales reporting, monthly updates and quarterly business reviews with clear insights, actions and accountability.
  • Deliver against volume, share, revenue, margin and ROI targets.
Lead Flawless Execution Across Portfolio Priorities
  • Drive distribution, shelving, pricing and promotion support to optimize spending and maximize sales impact.
  • Develop promotional strategies, presentations and retailer events that unlock incremental growth and strengthen Wella's position within beauty.
  • Partner with inventory management and demand planning teams to build and maintain accurate forecasts, improve service levels and reduce business risk.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, including Demand Planning, Marketing, Finance and Customer Service, to ensure flawless execution of business objectives.
Manage Financial Performance and Trade Investment
  • Manage the account P&L scorecard, including trade investment, deductions, returns, days outstanding and account-specific programming.
  • Evaluate trade spending effectiveness and make recommendations to improve productivity, profitability and ROI.
  • Lead customer negotiations with strong commercial acumen and a focus on mutually beneficial outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in national or key account management
  • Direct experience managing Shoppers Drug Mart strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a talent for translating data insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
