Live Site Operations Specialist (PST) (Americas, Canada )

About The Role Remote - PST Shift (11am to 7pm PST, Tuesday-Saturday) At Shopify, we believe that opportunity is not evenly distributed, and our mission is to put independence within reach for anyone with a dream of starting a business.

Since 2006, we've empowered entrepreneurs and enterprises to achieve their potential, helping generate over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants across 175 countries. This is life-defining work that transforms both our customers' lives and our own, putting the power of a few into the hands of many and creating a future with more voices and choices.

About The Infrastructure Engineering Group The Infrastructure Engineering Group at Shopify is on a mission to build a reliable, trusted, intuitive, and scalable infrastructure platform that powers global commerce. Our work ensures that merchants can focus on running their businesses while Shopify developers focus on creating tools that empower them to do so.

About The Role Live Site Operations (LSO) is the team that keeps Shopify online. As an LSO Specialist, you sit at the center of two of the highest-leverage functions in the company: getting changes safely into production and driving the response when something goes wrong. This is active, hands-on work where you are constantly investigating, deploying, and decision-making, not just watching dashboards. You own the live site during your shift, and because our coverage is global and follow-the-sun, your shift is a critical link in 24/7 commerce, including the high-traffic weekend windows when merchants depend on us most.

This is a role for someone who stays calm under pressure, makes sharp decisions with incomplete information, and gets energy from being where the action is.

Key Responsibilities: As a Live Site Operations Specialist supporting Shopify’s e-commerce platform, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting Global Deployment: Guide periodic code deployment for key areas to success, efficiently navigating any problems that may arise. Ensure safe deploys for the success of our customers, especially enterprise shops with high-scale requirements.
  • Responding to Incidents: Act as a first responder when production systems degrade, debugging, diagnosing, and understanding the technical details behind a problem, then working with owning teams to respond to and repair it. Help coordinate the response and drive incidents toward the fastest safe path to recovery.
  • Investigate and Strengthen Observability: Use our observability tooling as a launchpad for active investigation rather than passive monitoring, chasing down anomalies and improving the signal so problems surface sooner, while keeping the platform resilient for our global footprint and highest-scale enterprise customers under the most demanding traffic.
Key Technology Stack
  • Platform: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes
  • Source Control: Git and repository-based workflows
  • Storage: Google Cloud Storage, MySQL, Redis, Memcached, Elasticsearch
  • Data Distribution & Processing: Kafka
  • Programming Languages: Go, Python, Ruby
  • Monitoring: Grafana
Team Culture We are a passionate operations team committed to keeping the best commerce infrastructure platform in the world running smoothly. We prioritize sustainable on-call practices, blameless incident culture, and long-term resilience over short-term fixes. We invest in continuous learning and professional growth. If you have a growth mindset, an avid curiosity, and a desire to keep planet-scale infrastructure running, you'll find a fulfilling home here. Join Us If you're excited to own the live site, make high-stakes calls in real time, and keep a platform that powers millions of businesses running smoothly, we encourage you to apply. At Shopify, we're dedicated to supporting your growth as we build the future of commerce together.

Shift - AMER WEST - 11am to 7pm PST, including weekends (Tuesday-Saturday)

About Shopify Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.

This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.

About You Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.

Before you apply, consider if you can:

  • Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
  • Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
  • Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
  • Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
  • Bring critical thought and opinion
  • Put AI agents and tools to work on the tasks they're built for, and focus on the work only humans can do
  • Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
  • Work digital-first for your daily work
We may use AI-enabled tools to screen, select, and assess applications. All AI outputs are reviewed and validated by our recruitment team.
