IT/OT Security Analyst (4-12 Month Internship)

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Assist with day-to-day IT/OT security operations and implementation of security projects.
  • Work closely with global teams and managed service partners to secure IT and OT assets.
  • Support implementation and administration of technologies including security orchestration, endpoint security, network security, vulnerability management, third-party risk management, SIEM, security awareness and training platforms, VPN, threat intelligence, and privileged access management.
  • Assist with the Global Cyber Security Program governing all Northland entities, covering IT and OT.
  • Evaluate, implement, and document security controls such as intrusion detection, endpoint security, segmentation, email security, SIEM, automation, data loss prevention, authentication controls, web filtering, threat intelligence, and Office 365.
  • Maintain security systems to identify and prevent threats and assist with procedures and technology changes to evolve security maturity.
  • Monitor and report on network, system, and application security solutions to identify non-compliance and recommend improvements.
  • Support cybersecurity incident response and periodic penetration tests.
  • Participate in project activities to ensure IT/OT acquisitions and implementations meet security requirements.
  • Build relationships with Managed Service Partners, IT/OT Infrastructure, Project Management, and Managed Security Partners (SOC) to guide security best practices and compliance.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders including IT/OT employees, Human Resources, Risk Management, Engineering, and Operations on IT Security matters.
  • Participate in ongoing IT/OT security audits for compliance.
  • Provide backup support for IT/OT Security and Compliance team members as needed.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree or post-secondary diploma in Computer Science or related field.
  • Working knowledge of IT Security tools, principles, and practices.
  • Courses in IT Security, network administration, server administration, data protection, or industrial control systems are highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of privacy laws related to cybersecurity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of secure network design (LAN, WAN) for IT and OT/ICS environments and network intrusion detection concepts.
  • Academic experience with enterprise infrastructure technologies and security platforms such as firewalls, SIEM, vulnerability management, privileged access management, intrusion detection systems, endpoint security, cloud solutions, and Office 365.
  • Understanding of IT security frameworks such as ISO 27000 series, NIST SP800-53, NIST CSF.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Good judgment, self-motivated, and self-directed.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection.
  • Methodical, organized, collaborative, independent, eager to learn, adaptable, and a strong communicator.
