Reporting to the Principal, the Library Assistant will be actively involved in creating an environment that is dynamic and collaborative for inquiry, with unlimited accessibility, where all learners are welcomed, engaged and supported in their personalized learning pursuits both in the library and within classrooms. Experience Experience working in an educational setting is preferred Experience and/or training with library procedures, cataloguing and filing systems Experience in an automated environment and in the library field is preferred Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform the position may be considered Competencies Motivated, self-starting individual Enjoy working with people Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills A positive and professional demeanor Courteous manners with students and staff Punctual, meticulous and reliable A team player who enjoys an ever-changing busy work environment An excellent work ethic Duties and Responsibilities Library working with students through varying formats and roles, act as a resource to teachers and students in obtaining information and materials, circulation, maintaining and updating the resources necessary for a school library, and providing research and resource support to students and staff at the school.
