<strong>About The Company<br><br></strong>The Uptown Rutland Business Association (URBA) is a nonprofit business improvement association representing over 220 businesses in the Uptown Rutland area of Kelowna.<br><br>For more than 20 years, URBA has worked to promote economic development, business advocacy, and community revitalization by supporting a vibrant, safe, and prosperous business district. In addition to levy funding from the municipality, the organization secures revenue through grants, sponsorships, service contracts, partnerships, and community events.<br><br>The Role<br><br>The Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for URBA, working closely with the Board of Directors to advocate for the Uptown Rutland business community and drive economic growth.<br><br>The role oversees a team of four staff members while leading organizational strategy, stakeholder engagement, governance, community partnerships, and revenue development.<br><br>Key Responsibilities<br><br>Executive Leadership<br><br><ul><li>Lead the day-to-day operations of the organization.</li><li>Partner with the Board of Directors to execute URBA's strategic vision.</li><li>Provide leadership and direction to a team of four staff members.</li><li>Foster a collaborative and high-performing organizational culture.<br><br></li></ul>Governance & Strategy<br><br><ul><li>Support Board governance and strategic planning.</li><li>Advocate for the interests of the Uptown Rutland business community.</li><li>Develop initiatives that strengthen economic development and business vitality.<br><br></li></ul>Community & Stakeholder Engagement<br><br><ul><li>Build relationships with business owners, government agencies, community organizations, and funding partners.</li><li>Represent URBA within the local business community.</li><li>Promote collaboration among key stakeholders.<br><br></li></ul>Revenue Development<br><br><ul><li>Identify and secure additional funding opportunities through:</li><ul><li>Grants</li><li>Sponsorships</li><li>Partnerships</li><li>Service contracts</li><li>Community events</li></ul><li>Support the organization's long-term financial sustainability.<br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong>Required<br><br><ul><li>More than 5 years of progressive leadership experience.</li><li>Experience in:</li><ul><li>Strategic planning</li><li>Organizational development</li><li>Community engagement</li><li>Revenue generation</li></ul><li>Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.</li><li>Ability to advocate, negotiate, and build partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups.</li><li>Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.<br></li></ul><strong>Preferred<br><br></strong><ul><li>Knowledge of the Rutland business community.</li><li>Residency in or near the Rutland area.</li><li>Combination of relevant education and leadership experience.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Compensation<br><br></strong><ul><li>Annual salary: CAD $70,000–$80,000 (0.8 FTE).</li><li>Comprehensive benefits package.</li><li>Professional development opportunities.<br><br></li></ul>Time Commitment<br><br><ul><li>Part-Time (0.8 FTE).</li><li>Monday to Friday, with occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.<br><br></li></ul>Work Arrangement<br><br><ul><li>Remote until permanent office space is established.</li><li>Regular in-person presence required within the Rutland community of Kelowna.<br><br></li></ul>
