Excavator Operator - Up to $32/HR

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Licensed Excavator Operator to join our growing operations team. The successful candidate will operate hydraulic excavators to sort, load, move, and process waste, recyclable materials, and construction debris in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate hydraulic excavators of various sizes.
  • Load transfer trailers, roll-off bins, and dump trucks.
  • Perform excavation, demolition, grading, sorting, and material handling.
  • Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
  • Perform routine maintenance including greasing, cleaning, and checking fluid levels.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues immediately.
  • Follow site plans, layouts, work orders, and supervisor instructions.
  • Maintain safe working distances around personnel, equipment, structures, and utilities.
  • Coordinate with drivers, labourers, dispatchers, and other equipment operators.
Qualifications

  • Valid Excavator Operator License or recognized Heavy Equipment Operator certification.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of excavator operating experience.
  • Experience in waste management, construction, demolition, recycling, or excavation is preferred.
  • Experience operating various sizes of hydraulic excavators.
  • Strong understanding of safe heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, work orders, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment deficiencies
  • Experience working at waste transfer stations or recycling facilities.
  • Loader, skid steer, or other heavy equipment experience.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence; DZ is an asset.
  • Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working around dust, noise, mud, and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment multiple times per shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required.
  • PPE is required at all times.

  • Sunday to Friday
  • 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM
