About the Role Our client, a leading service provider in the oil and gas sector, is actively recruiting a skilled Drilling Fluids Specialist to support operations in the Vaughan, Ontario, CA area. This role requires a dedicated individual who will be responsible for the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations. The Drilling Fluids Specialist will work closely with drilling engineers and rig site personnel to address fluid-related challenges, maintain fluid properties within specified parameters, and minimize drilling costs. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, properties, and applications. The successful candidate will play a critical part in ensuring the success of drilling campaigns through expert fluid management. Key Responsibilities Design and formulate drilling fluid systems tailored to specific well conditions and geological formations. Supervise and perform field testing of drilling fluid properties, ensuring compliance with specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve drilling fluid issues encountered during operations. Provide on-site technical support to drilling crews regarding fluid management. Manage inventory of drilling fluid products and chemicals. Maintain accurate records of fluid performance, costs, and operational data. Collaborate with drilling engineers to optimize fluid programs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to drilling fluid handling and disposal. Stay updated on new drilling fluid technologies and industry best practices. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in drilling fluids engineering or a related role within the oil and gas industry. In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid types, additives, and their functions. Experience with drilling fluid testing procedures and equipment. Strong understanding of drilling operations and their interaction with fluid systems. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a field environment. Familiarity with safety protocols for handling chemicals. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and based in or willing to relocate to the Vaughan, Ontario, CA area.
