Position Description

Fulger Transport Inc. is actively seeking to hire a new Director of Finance to develop and oversee Fulger Transport’s accounting departments. The ideal candidate will be an experienced financial professional with experience within the transportation industry. This individual will be an ambitious self-starter who has the ability to work independently and provide continuous improvement to the accounting department operations.

In order to succeed in this role, the successful candidate will need:

  • A Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation or equivalent accreditation.
  • Experience in overseeing and participating in all aspects of financial management.
  • A strong mastery of financial reporting and analysis
  • A strong understanding of internal controls and GAAP and investment capital analysis.
  • Excellent technical, organization, management and communication skills
The main tasks associated with this position include:
  • Managing, developing and maintaining financial records for a group of related companies, including US based companies
  • Utilizing financial/accounting software such as QuickBooks and advanced excel reporting
  • Managing and monitoring all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements for privately held enterprises.
  • Preparing budgets, Cash flow Projections, Bank Reports, Journal Entries, Monthly Financial Reporting Package and Year End Working Papers
  • Managing and overseeing the accounting team workflow
  • Reviewing AP & AR aging, monitoring expenditures, costs and P&L.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on the company's financial data and performance.
  • Prepare T4’s, T4 summaries, 1099’s, WSIB, EHT, HST annual reconciliations
  • Supporting/ Coordinating month-end and year-end close process
  • Reviewing and approving costing reports
  • Liaising with external auditors, lenders and legal counsel
  • Reporting directly to the Vice President of Administration.

Qualifications

Experience:

This individual must have

At least 5 years of financial accounting experience in a management position.

Experience working in a fast paced environment and managing financial implications of very rapid growth

Experience within the transportation industry

Education: A university degree in finance/accounting is required in addition to a current valid CPA designation

Skills:

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a finance/accounting team.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-Motivated, ambitious and results driven.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
