Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking highly motivated and physically capable Fruit Picking Laborers to join our network of agricultural talent for seasonal placements across the Toronto and Greater Toronto Area (GTA) farms. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are not afraid of manual labor, and are committed to contributing to Canada's vibrant agricultural sector. As a Fruit Picking Laborer, you will play a crucial role in harvesting various fruits, ensuring they are picked efficiently, carefully, and to the highest quality standards before reaching consumers.

This role requires dedication, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You will be expected to work in diverse weather conditions, from warm sunny days to cooler, potentially damp periods. The work is physically demanding, involving repetitive movements, bending, lifting, and carrying. You will learn specific picking techniques for different types of fruits, ensuring minimal damage and optimal yield. Training on safe handling practices and farm equipment (where applicable) will be provided. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude towards challenging tasks. Key Responsibilities

• Execute manual fruit picking tasks as directed by farm supervisors, adhering to quality and quantity targets.
• Carefully handle various fruits to prevent bruising or damage during harvesting and transport.
• Operate and maintain basic picking tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
• Work efficiently and productively in various outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and light rain.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, disposing of waste properly.
• Assist with other general farm duties as required, such as weeding, planting, or packing, during off-peak picking times.
• Adhere to farm schedules and arrive punctually for shifts.

Required Skills

• Physical stamina and endurance for repetitive tasks and extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to lift and carry weights up to 25-30 lbs regularly.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
• Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Basic understanding of English for communication and safety instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
