Cross-Dock Counterbalance Operator

Randstad is recruiting skilled Sit-Down Counterbalance Drivers for a dynamic freight transfer terminal in Calgary.

Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Sunday through Thursday (Fixed Friday/Saturday days off)

Hourly Rate: $22.00

Primary Duties:

Transport and stage incoming/outgoing freight across the terminal floor via counterbalance lift truck.

Maintain strict on-time performance while offloading and packing transport trailers.

Hand-stack, sort, and secure cargo (lifting up to 50 lbs) to prepare balanced shipments for transport.

Track goods accurately through every stage using handheld RF barcoding tools.

What We Expect:

Current counterbalance operator license ( external) paired with proven background in high-volume freight environments.

Stamina and physical readiness for repeated lifting up to 50 lbs.

Personal car or truck for daily travel, as transit lines do not service this location.

Responsibilities
Operate a Sit-Down Counterbalance forklift to safely and efficiently move pallets across a high-traffic cross-dock floor.
Load, unload, and strategically stage LTL and FTL freight to meet tight daily dispatch deadlines.
Step off the machine to hand-bomb, stack, and build solid, road-ready pallets with items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Manage fast-paced workflows and maintain dock organization to keep up with strict transit schedules.
Utilize handheld RF scanners to track inventory movements and ensure 100% data accuracy on all shipments.

Qualifications
Valid Sit-Down Counterbalance Forklift certification with at least 1 year of experience in a high-volume freight or cross-dock environment.
Must have your own reliable vehicle, as this facility is completely inaccessible via public transit.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and perform physical tasks, including stepping off the forklift to build pallets.
Proven, hands-on understanding of LTL (Less Than Truckload) and FTL (Full Truckload) workflows.
Ready to start working immediately with a strong, self-motivated work ethic and excellent punctuality.
