Your Position & How You Will Contribute:
Reporting to the Director of Construction, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Field Inspector to oversee and ensure the adherence of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) build projects with outside plant construction plans, designs, and permits. The successful candidate will be responsible for field inspections, coordinating project close-outs, and maintaining compliance with Health and Safety regulations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of FTTH construction, underground utilities, and field operations, ensuring projects meet quality, safety, and schedule expectations. Responsibilities & Key Duties:
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure FTTH build compliance with outside plant construction plans, designs, and permits.
  • Ensure job sites comply with Health and Safety standards, validate insurance coverages, and confirm all contractors have appropriate onboarding documentation.
  • Oversee fieldwork progress to ensure it aligns with project schedules, including project documentation, daily worksheets, and material demands.
  • Track and validate fieldwork performance with the Senior Construction Manager and Project Manager, ensuring contractor performance meets forecasts.
  • Review construction plans to fully understand each project’s scope, specifications, and ensure they are clearly communicated to field teams.
  • Coordinate the review of "as-built" information with the Construction Manager and ensure timely completion and distribution of documentation.
  • Facilitate the project close-out process with the client, obtaining final sign-off.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure the timely turnover of projects for sales and drop crews.

What You Bring:
  • Strong knowledge of the use and operation of light and heavy equipment used in construction and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with hazards related to construction and maintenance activities, and a strong understanding of safety measures to be observed on-site.
  • Ability to manage difficult customer and employee situations with professionalism.
  • Capable of issuing, monitoring, and quality checking work in an organized, positive, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with Damage Prevention and Incident Reporting

Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in underground infrastructure fieldwork.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in FTTH telecom construction, with proven knowledge in fiber optic placement, fiber splicing, optical testing, and cable TV pathways (aerial and MDU).
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction plans, with the ability to interpret and communicate project scope and specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Education:
  • A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
