About the Role Our client, a key player in the industrial chemicals sector, is seeking an experienced Chemical Plant Engineer to join their operational team in **Vaughan, Ontario**. This role is vital for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the chemical plant. You will be responsible for overseeing process operations, maintenance coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of plant-level chemical processes and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the chemical plant, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards. Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime. Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and execute preventative and corrective maintenance activities. Implement and manage process improvement projects to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation. Participate in safety reviews, hazard assessments, and incident investigations. Monitor plant performance metrics and provide regular reports to management. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to achieve plant objectives. Support capital project implementation and commissioning activities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical plant environment, with a focus on operations and process engineering. Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex plant operational issues. Solid understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and safety protocols relevant to industrial plants. Knowledge of maintenance practices and coordination is highly desirable. Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., environmental permits, safety regulations). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a plant setting. Experience with process control systems (DCS) is an asset.
