Role Overview

A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Building & Construction Project Leader to lead capital investment projects from initial feasibility through to design, delivery and final handover. Based in Stevenage, the Building & Construction Project Leader will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to agreed objectives within the building services and construction industry.

Working on a range of refurbishment, infrastructure and plant replacement projects in Stevenage, this Building & Construction Project Leader role offers the opportunity to oversee the full project lifecycle within the building services and construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multi-functional project teams across all project phases.
  • Deliver CAPEX projects from feasibility and business case development through to final handover.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor project delivery plans.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed design briefs for building services, refurbishment and major plant replacement projects.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, engineers and external design consultants.
  • Produce and review technical reports, specifications, drawings and project documentation.
  • Manage project costs and oversee external professional service providers.
  • Monitor installation and construction activities on site, ensuring technical compliance and adherence to health and safety requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective stakeholder and client relationships throughout project delivery.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience delivering CAPEX projects from inception through to completion and handover.
  • Experience leading multi-functional project teams and managing external consultants and contractors.
  • ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in Building Engineering Services or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems, equipment and infrastructure.
  • Experience working on refurbishment, building services and plant replacement projects within existing buildings.
  • Ability to develop client requirements into design briefs, scopes of work and project specifications.
  • Proficiency with project management and reporting tools, including Microsoft Project, SharePoint and similar software.
  • Professional membership, or working towards membership, of organisations such as CIBSE, IMechE or IET.
