BCIN-Qualified Residential Designer
<p>True North Canadian Cabins is seeking an experienced BCIN-qualified Residential Designer to work with us on a contract, per-project basis for cottage, cabin, and small residential construction projects throughout Ontario.</p><p>We are looking for someone who can take project requirements and concepts through to a professional, permit-ready drawing package while ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code and applicable municipal requirements.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><p><br></p><p> ● Prepare complete residential drawing packages for building permit applications</p><p> ● Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, foundation plans, roof plans, construction details, and other required drawings</p><p> ● Review project concepts and advise on Ontario Building Code requirements</p><p> ● Ensure drawings meet applicable OBC and municipal submission requirements</p><p> ● Make revisions required by municipalities during the permit review process</p><p> ● Coordinate with structural engineers, septic designers, surveyors, and other professionals when required</p><p> ● Identify when engineering or other specialized professional involvement is necessary</p><p> ● Assist with responding to building department comments and requests for revisions</p><p> ● Work with our team to develop practical, cost-conscious designs that can be efficiently constructed</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><p><br></p><p> ● Valid BCIN qualification applicable to residential design in Ontario</p><p> ● Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Part 9</p><p> ● Experience preparing permit drawings for houses, cottages, cabins, additions, or similar residential projects</p><p> ● Experience dealing with Ontario municipal building departments</p><p> ● Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect, or comparable professional design software</p><p> ● Ability to produce accurate, construction-ready drawings</p><p> ● Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently</p><p> ● Reliable communication and reasonable project turnaround times</p><p>Experience with rural Ontario construction, four-season cottages, small-footprint homes, loft designs, septic systems, waterfront/rural properties, and prefabricated or cabin construction is considered an asset.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Contract Structure</strong></p><p><br></p><p>This is not a full-time position.
