Job Description

We're seeking an enthusiastic software engineering co-op student to join our dynamic Data Engineering team. In this role, you'll contribute to providing cutting-edge data and analytics capabilities to our business. Your engineering skills and passion for building data platforms will help us deliver core data and application pipelines, frameworks, and infrastructure that enable our business to provide insights and respond to client needs in real-time.

Preferred skills

  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal abilities
  • Familiarity with or eagerness to learn Agile methodologies like Kanban or Scrum

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recent completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field
  • Experience with AWS services (such as S3, Lambda, Glue)
  • Familiarity with or eagerness to learn:
  • Git, Bitbucket and Python (using Python to write AWS Lambda functions)
  • Docker and container-orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory
  • SQL databases, such as Postgres
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • ML Pipelines, Model Registry in AWS
  • Interest in Microservice Architectures

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within an Agile squad to build core data and analytics platforms, applications, and self-service capabilities
  • Develop robust data pipelines integrating various data sources to enable analytics in our Cloud environment
  • Work closely with data science analytics partners and AWS service partners to deliver effective integration and delivery pipelines for various analytics use-cases, such as recommendation systems
  • Operate in a Shift-Left testing environment, prioritizing efficient, tested, and clear code
  • Enhance the supportability and transparency of our applications and services by creating comprehensive documentation, monitoring/alert systems, and centralized logging

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay which you will be considered for will vary depending on the Campus program you are selected for.

Eligible Sun Life employees for various Campus Graduate programs will also participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
