Air Traffic Controller - Tower Operations
About the Role
Our client is seeking highly skilled and alert Air Traffic Controllers to manage tower operations at a busy regional airport in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. This critical role involves guiding aircraft safely and efficiently on the ground and during takeoff and landing phases. You will be responsible for maintaining separation between aircraft and vehicles, issuing clearances, and responding to emergencies. This is a high-responsibility position that requires intense focus, excellent decision-making skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment dedicated to aviation safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Control aircraft movements on the airport surface and in the immediate vicinity, ensuring safe separation. Issue clearances and instructions to pilots for taxiing, takeoff, and landing. Monitor weather conditions and advise pilots of any significant changes. Coordinate with other air traffic control units (e.g., approach control) to ensure seamless transitions. Respond effectively to emergencies and unusual situations in accordance with established protocols. Requirements Valid Air Traffic Controller license with relevant ratings (e.g., Tower, Ground). Demonstrated experience in aerodrome control and surface movement control. In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, phraseology, and airport procedures. Exceptional situational awareness, decision-making capability, and stress management skills. Ability to pass rigorous medical and background checks.
